About the Exhibit

The Black Power Exhibit: Panama traces the enduring legacy of African descendants in Panama . From resistance and forced migration to cultural sovereignty. Through centuries of bondage, labor, and creativity, Afro-Panamanians shaped the political, economic, and artistic foundations of the nation. Their story is one of defiance and continuity, extending from maroon communities in the colonial era to the vibrant Panamanian diaspora today.
